National Volunteer Week 2017: Volunteer Spotlight on Paola Hornbuckle

Paola Hornbuckle

Paola Hornbuckle is a teacher and writer who moved to Miami two months ago.

1.Why do you volunteer?

I volunteer because I am on sabbatical and want to feel useful, give back and make new friends. I feel very strongly about the gay community because my gay uncle and his partner helped raised me and I love them very much.

2.What has been your most fulfilling volunteering experience with OUT Miami?

My most fulfilling experience was leading an ice breaker for my group.

3. Can you share a dream/hope you have for our local LGBT community?

My dream is for LGBTQ community to be more accepted in the traditional, Latino culture of Miami, for there to be no discrimination and full acceptance.
